Through a Different Lens

They draw their lines like fences in the sand,
Build their truths with trembling hands.
Eyes like shutters, closed to the light,
Afraid the dawn might steal the night.

I was born with windows wide,
A soul that won’t be calcified.
I see the world not as a cage,
A canvas for creation, not a stage.

I see it all through a different lens,
Where love unarms what fear defends.
Where silence speaks and stillness mends,
And letting go is where life begins.
They brace for storms, I breathe the wind.
I just see it through a different lens.

They hold their hearts like fragile glass,
Counting futures, fearing pasts.
I’ve walked barefoot through the flame,
And I’m still here, never the same.

I don’t need shields or perfect plans,
Just open eyes and open hands.
I’ve learned the dark can birth the stars,
And every scar rewrites who we are.

I see it all through a different lens,
Where love unarms what fear defends.
Where silence speaks and stillness mends,
And letting go is where life begins.
They brace for storms, I breathe the wind.
I just see it through a different lens.
